Ministries

For any church and organization there are many ministries and committees that work behind the scenes to oversee the operation of the organization and its facilities and the well-being of the members and Staff.

Annual Meeting | Church Council | Building and Grounds | Endowment
Evangelism | Fellowship | Aesthetics | Long-Range Planning | Mutual Ministry
Parish Education | Personnel | Stewardship | Worship | Youth Task  | Service Group

ANNUAL MEETING

The Annual Meeting on the fourth Wednesday in January, and specially called Congregation Meetings, are the central decision-making body of Grace Lutheran Church: following the mission of our LORD and as guided by our Lutheran Confessions and the Constitution of Grace Lutheran Church.

CHURCH COUNCIL

Church Council oversees and carries out the budget, constitutional provisions, and mission of Grace. Each Council member also serves as a liaison to one of the following committee in order to provide coordination and encouragement for all the ministries of Grace. Three Council members are elected at each Annual Meeting for three year terms. Two Council members are chosen by the High School Youth group. Meet your current council members.

BUILDING AND GROUNDS

Building and Grounds Committee addresses issues of the building and surrounding property. Included are building repairs and maintenance, gardening, and landscape management. This includes the Aesthetics Committee and PPP (Prayer, Paint, Pound, and Pie -- a group which does various maintenance work every Tuesday morning); as well as seasonal and specific tasks such as Ladder People, Landscaping Team, Moving furniture, and snow removal team.

ENDOWMENT COMMITTEE

Endowment Committee oversees the Endowment Fund of Grace. Money given to the Grace endowment is invested and unless otherwise designated only the interest earned is used for various ministries. None of the money can be used for ongoing budgetary expenses of Grace.  Click here for scholarship forms and grant forms.

EVANGELISM COMMITTEE

Evangelism Committee oversees the new member ministry, outreach ministry, and the inspiration ministries for all people.  For specific Evangelism-related ministries, click on the following:  new member ministry, outreach ministry, or inspiration.

FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE

Fellowship Committee plans and oversees the Fellowship Ministries at Grace by coordinating activities that foster a sense of community among members. Click on "Fellowship" to see all the fellowship groups and fellowship activities at Grace.

AESTHETICS COMMITTEE

Aesthetics Committee makes immediate and long-term aesthetics decisions for the Grace facility and manage memorial & gift procedures.

LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE

Long Range Planning Committee looks toward planning for the future of Grace as it pays attention to needs and opportunities in the Tomahawk area.

MUTUAL MINISTRY COMMITTEE

Mutual Ministry Committee is a support for the pastors of Grace both to ensure that undue expectations of ministry are not heaped upon the pastors and also to guide and encourage the pastor to address specific needs and ministries of Grace.

PARISH EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Parish Education Committee is made up of people representing the various education ministries of Grace in order to address needs and to coordinate efforts.  Click on "Education" to see all the learning and discipleship opportunities at Grace for all ages.

PERSONNEL COMMITTEE

Personnel Committee oversees the job descriptions of all the called and hired staff of Grace. This includes overseeing all legal requirements as well as the well-being and efficient functioning of the staff.

STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE

Stewardship Committee encourages the faith, financial, time, and talent giving of members for the mission of Grace and of Christ’s church. The group meets monthly to plan and review special offerings and requests and to plan and encourage life-long stewardship in our Christian lives.

WORSHIP COMMITTEE

Worship Committee oversees all the worship ministries of Grace. Members serve for a two year term, two oversee the Music and Liturgy Ministries and two oversee the support ministries for worship, and two chair the committee and oversee special concerts and events at Grace.  Click on "Ministries" under "Worship" to see the many ways of participating in worship at Grace.

YOUTH TASK FORCE

Youth Task Force was created by Church Council to research youth ministry today and to plan and design a youth ministry for Grace for Middle School, High School, and Young Adults.

SERVICE GROUP

This group does not exist yet, but may be needed to coordinate and promote the many service ministries and opportunities at Grace.  Currently there is a liaison to the Grace House.  Click on "Service" to see the many ways Grace offers for serving people at Grace, the Tomahawk community, and around the world.
