What is the Living Faith: Yearbook & Home Journal?

Head to the Heart Living journals have been specifically designed to help connect confirmation at church with the faith dialogue at home every night of the week.

Each journal contains thirty (30) thematic lessons that parallel the confirmation lesson and the points discussed in the mentor group. It is designed to be a sturdy, yearly record of the subjects covered during the confirmation year, as well as an annual journal.

Most importantly, the journal gives parents the tools to help even the most apprehensive among them become leaders of family home devotions. We call these devotions the Nightly Home Huddle™, and they are the cornerstone of Faith Inkubators’ Faith IncubationEvery Night In Every Home™ mission. The journal provides an effective “how to” guide for parents’ dual quest to be faith mentors for their children and to keep lines of communication open during this often turbulent time in their children’s lives.

What's In This Journal?

Every chapter (lesson) in the journal contains ten pages, including:

  • First page with beautiful thematic cover art by award winning artist, Dr. He Qi and the Bible verse theme for the lesson
  • A short explanation of the topic for that two weeks
  • So What Does This Mean: summary, Bible Time, Role Play, and questions discussed at Confirmation, and a prayer summarizing the theme
  • Family Devotion guide – listing how to share; read; talk; pray and bless
  • Four pages for journaling with a Bible verse and space to journal each day
  • Theme Review to list what the youth learned in that lesson and a Covenant for parents and teen to sign
  • Last page: FINKmania QuizBowl™, Terms for that lesson, AND a code (bottom left side of page) to use on the internet at www.faithink.com

What's In Living Faith?

This year’s book will take you through the basics of the Christian faith covering the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, and ten Hot Topics near and dear to the hearts and hormones of young Christians trying to make it to adulthood in the 21st Century.

Ordering Living Faith

      Cost: $20

Pay: at Confirmation on Wednesday evening or at the Church Office

Purpose:

This book is meant to be kept at home and used daily by the whole family. That is why we ask families to pay for it so that it is truly your own.

It is coordinated with the material covered on Wednesdays. Look on the right hand column of the Schedule! The topic listed in italics under the Journal chapter is the section of the Living Faith: Yearbook & Home Journal to be used during the time period listed in the left column. This will connect with what is being taught and covered on Wednesdays.

The First page, short explanation, and So What Does This Mean will review what was presented on Wednesday and discussed in the mentor group.

Small Group: Share, Read, Talk, Pray, Bless page is a Family Devotion Guide to be used everyday at home. Do these five activities at the supper table or before bed as a family together. Keep it to ten minutes so that it is short enough to easily do each day and make it lively so that all can realize the benefit of doing it.

  1. Share – sharing the best and worst of what one experienced each day is a great way to summarize and share our day with one another in the family.
  2. Read – reviewing the theme verse for that week will help commit it to memory and reading the verse assigned for each day (in the journaling section) will connect the theme more closely with the Bible.
  3. Talk – talking, questioning, and verbalizing our thoughts about the theme, Bible verse, and life makes it relevant to life and owned more personally.
  4. Pray – connects our lives, family, Confirmation Ministry, and the theme directly with God and makes prayer come alive.
  5. Bless – words are provided to end the day with a blessing for each other.

Four pages are provided for teens for journaling every day as to their high and low and the most important concern that they took to God that day.

The Theme Review and the Last page are a great summary on the theme. A cartoon adds humor; space is provided for summing the verse, high, low and answer to prayer; Family Covenant can be signed; key Terms can be reviewed; and the Quizbowl is provided along with a code and website for more interaction and information related to that theme on the web.
